Experience
1. Principal Research Scientist – Computer Vision
Exactech, Inc. Seattle, WA | Jul 2024 - Current
- Lead image-based research, managing database, and defining and conducting research using Equinoxe® shoulder system, a database of arthroplasty patients with over 20 years follows-up.
- Work with different stakeholders including researchers, end-users, regulatory and industry partners to understand requirements and translate research into product in clinical practice.
- Responsible for project planning and timelines creation, updating the customer and other stakeholders, and presenting research findings in shoulder-related conferences.
2. Senior Research Scientist – Computer Vision
Exactech, Inc. Seattle, WA | Mar 2022 - Jun 2024
- Discover image-based biomarkers that are predictive of outcome of shoulder arthroplasty including pain and range of motion.
- Design, develop, and clinically validate an automated image-based model for segmentation and quantification of muscles and bone for patients who are elected for arthroplasty.
3. Senior Research Scientist – Computer Vision
Advata, Inc Bellevue, WA | Aug 2021 - Mar 2022
(Advata ML Team was acquired by Exactech, Inc.)
- Primary responsible to design, generate, and deliver image-based tools for segmentation and quantification of muscle and bone characteristics.
- Develop a scheduling algorithm for operating rooms to recommend the most optimal free time slot for a requested surgery. This algorithm maximizes operating room utilization while avoiding overloading of resources, leading to reduce the cost and improve patient satisfaction.
- Develop and validated novel ML-based models to predict the length of surgery and length of hospital stay at the time of scheduling the surgery.
4. Research Assistant Professor
Department of Neurosurgery, University at Buffalo | Jan 2020 - Jul 2021
Canon Stroke & Vascular Research Center, Buffalo, NY
- Develop and conducted multiple research proposals to improve predictions of secondary stroke in patients with intracranial stenotic lesions using data derived from CTA/MRA imaging.
- Build Machine-Learning models for automated segmentation of CTA/MRA images to replace the manual and tedious traditional approaches.
- Perform multiple hypothesis-driven experiments to elucidate the role of unphysiological hemodynamics in the initiation and development of different vascular diseases.
- Prepare data and reports for scientific meetings, journal articles, review papers, and grants.
5. Data Scientist
Neurovascular Diagnostics, Inc., Buffalo, NY | Feb 2020 - Jul 2021
- Contribute to developing a blood-based biomarker to detect intracranial aneurysms.
- Integrate blood-based biomarkers with image-based metrics to identify high-risk aneurysms.
- Prepare data for Phase II NIH submission, developing biomarker to detect high-risk aneurysms.
6. Research Assistant
Canon Stroke & Vascular Research Center, Buffalo, NY | Aug 2014 - Jan 2020
- Design, validate, and test an image-based software, called AView, for automated and streamlined morphology and hemodynamic evaluation of intracranial aneurysms.
- Image-based identification of ruptured aneurysms in patients with multiple aneurysms.
